What do normal people do when they can’t hear someone talking? Well if the speakers are blasting and the TV is blaring.. they turn it down. Seems like an easy solution. The problem is that sometimes we don’t realize that someone is talking. I can’t tell you how many times I have been doing something that needs extra concentration at work and I put on my noise cancelling headphones and listen to something to tune out distraction (I’ve heard this is a product of being a part of a multitasking generation) and someone starts talking to me. I share an office with two others and it is the first office in the hallway. The possibilities for distraction are endless… sometimes I need a little help. I always feel bad, like I am being antisocial because someone is talking and I am being non-responsive. Keep in mind though, the headphones are HUGE. You can’t miss them, they mean business.
Sometimes you need to turn down the noise to hear someone talking. For me.. I’m quieting the noise to hear more from God. Tomorrow, the TV gets a break and the radio in the car and limit FB & Twitter to a few times a day. At the end of the day, I want to hunger more for God than my favorite TV show or whatever Ron Artest has to say on Twitter (which lately has been more like 98% crazy & 2% genius and flooding twitter). Sounds like a plan.
